Finland, Switzerland, Norway and Poland play in the WFC Group A. The two best teams will get the direct spot in the quarter-finals.
Host Finland (ranked second) has been in the final for the last two WFCs, but have had to settle for silver. Now their aim is to go all the way and win the WFC gold. Switzerland (ranked third) has won the Women’s WFC final in 2005 against Finland and they also played in the 2009 final.
Though Poland (ranked seventh) is below Norway (ranked fifth) in the rankings, when they played in September they were neck and neck. The two teams have had tight battles throughout the years.
Finland
The host team Finland is active, hardworking and humble. Though Oona Kauppi isn´t playing, Finland still has two pairs of sisters in the team. Finland aims to win the gold in front of the home crowd with their offensive playing style.
Players to watch:
Veera Kauppi: Has extraordinary individual skills and makes clever solutions.
Mia Karjalainen: Defender who plays hard and is really active.
Goalkeepers: Both goalies, Loisa & Mäkelä are excellent and played in the Swedish Super league final last year.

Switzerland
Switzerland is currently ranked third, but they are aiming higher. They’ve won the Women’s WFC in 2005 when they met Finland in the final. Their goal is to raise the cup once again and celebrate gold.
Players to watch:
Flurina Marti: Captain of the team who has a strong shot, good game sense and plays modern floorball.
Michelle Wiki: Leader and goal maker. Physical player who supports her team in every situation.
Corin Rüttimann: One of the best female floorball players: fast and has a great technique.

Norway
Norway’s aim is to continue to develop as a team both on and off the court. They want to maintain their ranking, if not even improve it.
Players to watch:
Tone Einstulen: Has shown excellence in her club KAIS Mora (SWE), winner of the Champions Cup.
Karen Farnes: Captain of the team who continues to develop in her club in Sweden.
Lene Benkø: Authentic attacking Viking.

Poland
Poland has built a strong and fast team while thinking the future. They have brought in some new players, who they hope to also see in the team in 2017. Poland has a good mix of old and young players, and their goal is to play at their highest level.
Players to watch:
Mariola Szarmach: Very experienced goalkeeper who can win games for the team.
Małgorzata Pazio: World class defender with great physique.
Agata Plechan: The engine of the team and captain. Important both on and off the field.
