Mr. Tibor Králik, the Ambassador of Slovakia accredited to Finland was at Hakametsä on Thursday and greeted the Slovakian Women´s national team in their locker room before the quarter-final against Sweden.
The Slovakian players received the Ambassador´s visit with joy.
What did you actually tell to your fellow citizens ?
- I congratulated them for achieving the best results ever so far at the World Floorball Championships. They have been performing magnificently. They have aroused lots of attention in Slovakia and represented our small country in an exemplary way. Of course I also mentioned, that they are the most beautiful women in the world, Mr. Králik gives a laugh.
Slovakian TV-company has been covering all of Slovak´s WFC2015 matches.
- There were 20 000 viewers in the first match, but the latest one gathered over 100 000 views. I have seen two matches of our team, states Mr. Králik with pride in his voice.
So there is some kind of rise of floorball in your country right now ?
- Definitely. We are a small nation and when our athletes are doing good, they are notified by the people.
Otherwise Mr. Králik is very impressed by floorball.
- This is a suitable sport for us as we are also an ice hockey nation. This is quite a similar and attractive game. As floorball is heading for the Olympics in 2020, more competitive countries are needed, he concludes.
As a gift, the Ambassador received the Slovakian national team jersey signed by the players.
He is also giving away prizes to the best players after the Sweden - Slovakia quarter final.
