Captain of Denmark Cecilia Di Nardo took her role right in the beginning and shot the first goal of match at 13:20. It was only goal in first period though both of the teams had several goal changes.
After the brake Denmark wanted to extend the lead. They started pressuring and the ball never left Australia’s defending zone. At 23:44 Denmark scored second goal. It was nice passed by Maria Helander and Emma Vistisen didn´t miss the net. The third goal was Di Nardo´s solo goal - sharp shot upper corner. During second period Denmark scored fourth time by Katrine Andersen.
Beginning of third period Di Nardo nailed her hat trick scoring third time in the game. Australia hit the net first time at 49:15 after aggressive pressure. Goal scored by Charlotte Quaife and assisted by Jessica Laidler.
In third period both of the teams scored twice more and final result was 7-3 for Denmark.
There is no doubt who is the star of team Demark. Di Nardo has already scored 8 goals in two matches.
The best player of Australia was defender Phoebe Hodges.
- It was hard fight for us. It´s gonna always be tough coming up against Denmark. We did our best and fought to the end and got few goals.
Anna Larsen played last 30 minutes as a goalkeeper. She made several great saves. Was it hard to start in the middle of game?
- I got really nervous in the beginning, but then it was okay, because there were lots of shot on the goal in the last 30 minutes of the game. I got warm.
How important this won was for your team?
- It was really important. We had difficult start this tournament because we have so many young players in our team. Everything was new, the floor and how we should play. I think that next game gonna be easier.
