Tight and tough match - that´s how you should describe match between USA and The Netherlands. The Netherlands started the goal scoring after one minute. Then teams scored alternately until USA scored twice at the end of the second period.
The Netherlands equalized match to 4-4 when third period was played four minutes. Four minutes later USA took the lead again scored by Linhard and three minutes later USA increased the lead with a goal. At the end stand was 7-4 for USA.
The best player of the team USA was Michelle Linhart with one goal and two assists.
- Perfect. This was the best start for the tournament, said Linhart.
Linhart told that they were quite nervous at the start and it took time to get used to floor. But they were not afraid of Netherlands good start.
- This is floorball and we knew that every team scores lots of goals. You just need to score more and we knew that we can do it.
Netherlands forward Iris Stokman was very disappointed after the match.
- Now it sucks. This was bad result for us. But we already spoke with team that we try to forget the result and take all the good things out of the game. For example they got power plays and didn´t score.
Stokman was also happy the way they started the game.
- We started sharp and it´s always good. Our goal is be top 10 in this tournament and we are still aiming it, nailed Stokman.
The fans of USA and the fans of the Netherlands created amazing atmosphere during the evening match in the Tampere Arena.
