Switzerland was down by two in the second period but managed to come back. Sweden won the match 5-4 after a penalty shoot-out.
Both teams started the match in a strong way. The players were battling hard for every ball so there were not only good scoring chances to see but also lots of emotions and effort. The Swedes, who were slightly more dangerous in the offense, took the lead in the 9th minute after a quick combination. But Switzerland leveled the score seven minutes later with a nifty top-corner shot. The game was tied at 1–1 after the first period.
The tough duel continued in the second part and the score kept increasing slowly. Sweden scored two goals within 46 seconds and went up by two. But Switzerland managed to cut the lead in half seven and a half minutes later. And as the rest of the shots were caught by both reliable goalies the score was 3–2 for Sweden after forty minutes.
With just 45 seconds into the third, the Swiss team set up the exciting story of the third period by equalizing the score. And late in the third, they even went into the lead and weren’t far from changing history. But the Swedes didn’t give up, leveled the score to 4–4 and sent the match to overtime. The thrilling battle ended in a penalty shoot-out, in which the Scandinavian team was more successful. Sweden will therefore play in the final, just like every time in the history of the floorball championships and for the seventh consecutive time they are going to play against Finland for the title. Switzerland on the other side is going to face the Czechs in the bronze medal game.
