Arena Sparta hosted the Asian clash, which turned out to be a very even one. Singapore and Thailand were wrestling for the lead but Thailand managed to take advantage of scoring two goals at the end of the second period and won 4-3.
The Arena Sparta at Podvinný mlýn was full of young fans yet again and both teams tried to show their best in front of the huge crowd. It was Singapore who won the 1st period. With 9:05 on the clock, Gary Wong´s shot ended high in Thailand´s net. The game was very tight with only a minimum of chances, but very energetic and tense.
At the beginning of the 2nd period, the crowd split into two halves. The first one began cheering for Thailand, while the second one was rooting for Singapore. And it was the Thailand´s half that could be happier after 40 minutes of play. Thai players managed to score three times, and especially the late goal from Aphichet Ratanaprathum just eight seconds before the second intermission was crucial.
During the last part of the match, the Thai players took control of the game. They were passing with great accuracy, which made it very hard for Singapore to even get the ball. But it all changed in the 51st minute. Syazni Ramlee managed to roll the ball over the hand of the Thai goalkeeper and scored the equalizer. However, the tied score did not last very long. At 54:01, Pawat Thaidit scored the game-winning goal. Singapore then pulled their play goalie, but did not manage to level the score anymore. After the 4-3 win, Thailand can still improve their best-ever result from the World Championships, which is the 14th place at WFC 2016.
