FBC Bozen Italian Champions for the 4th time – 24.04.2013A men´s final between two strong teams, both determined to play their very best in front of 200 spectators cheering on their respective teams. A great floorball event closed this year’s championship. FBC Bozen wins against SSV Bozen 6-5. The Italian Women´s league is having their final weekend 4-5 May. The men´s final, refereed by Cesare Andreano and Roberto Calegari, gave immediate thrills. SSV Diamante Bozen starts the match with a blitz and in the first seven minutes they score three goals with Giorgio Picin, Thomas Tribus and Mauro Picin. The defense of FBC is having a hard time with the quick actions of the red team. Slowly FBC enters the match, but the first period finishes with a solid 3-0 lead for the reigning champions SSV. In the second period FBC is more determined and after a few minutes they shorten the distance with Tobias Gasser assisted by Vigl. Four minutes later FBC takes advantage of a power play with a pass from the captain Tobias Mores to the top scorer Hannes Unterhofer. Signs of tension and in the middle of the second period Tobias Prudenziati from SSV is given a 5 minute penalty. With one player more FBC Bozen equals the score with Mores assisted by Burger. At the very end of the second period Lukas Widmann of FBC is given a 5 minute penalty for rough play. In the beginning of the third period Tobias Prudenziati brings SSV back in the lead during the power play. Then playing equally short handed his brother Simon Prudenziati increases the lead. FBC doesn’t give up and immediately after Matthias Prackwieser scores assisted by Unterhofer. The match is entering the final phase and with 7 minutes left Unterhofer finds Christof Pechlaner for the equalizing goal 5-5. With only 4 minutes left Philipp Grandi, SSV, is given 2 minutes for a high stick. After only 26 seconds of power play Daniel Raffeiner, with another assist from Unterhofer, gets into the lead for the first time. Two minutes later FBC has to play shorthanded, but the whites manage to defend their goal despite the final assault of SSV. The final whistle and with the 6-5 victory FBC Bozen can celebrate their fourth title, after a fantastic season with no losses, two draws and for the rest only victories. One positive thing from the men´s final was that the regional television team from RAI was present and the event was part of the regional evening news (at 18:23 in the video clip): http://www.rai.tv/dl/RaiTV/programmi/media/ContentItem-c678f499-8108-47bb-8fb9-ecc397b3e408.html#p= The prize ceremony was headed by the Vice President Jurgen Gasser and the Board Members Giorgio Rambaldi and Hannes Astenwald.
