German Cup Finals played on an island – 23.10.2013

The German Cup finals are played in a final4 format and in a different German city every year. Last time the succesful event was held in Chemnitz with over 1000 spectators at the final. This year the federation has chosen a pretty special place for the event.

The final4 2014 will take place on the North Sea island Föhr. Föhr is part of the northern Frisian islands in the south east of Sylt. With this venue, the organisers hope to take the event to the next level.

- Totally freaked out? Sure, but that is what our final4 should be like. An absolutely extraordinary happening that stays in everyone´s memory for a long time. We also aim to get more media attention, Floorball Germanys Head of Events, Jan Kratochvil, explains.

Other highlights during the final4 weekend will be the first German penalty shootout championship, a Floorball island quiz, different workshops and a final4 upcoming talents cup for juniors.

- In our young and pretty unknown sport, we need to go special and find abnormal ways to get attention. That´s why we decided to move with the final4 to this island. Now we are fixing a carefree package for the teams and spectators to offer the easiest solution to join the event.

The final4 will be played 28.02.-02.03.2014 in the arena Sporthalle Wyk, where an extra stand will be added to give space for more than 600 spectators.
