WFC 2017 Team presentations - Group D: DEN, JPN, USA, THA – 15.11.2017

The 11th Women´s World Floorball Championships (WFC) Final Round is played in Bratislava, Slovakia on December 1st - 9th, 2017.

A total of 30 teams played in the WFC Qualifications to decide the 16 teams to qualify to the Event. Slovakia, as the organiser, is automatically qualified. The WFC is played with 16 teams: FIN, CZE, LAT, NOR, SWE, SUI, GER, POL, SVK, AUS, SGP, EST, DEN, JPN, USA, THA.

Thailand will play in the World Floorball Championships Final Round for the first time.

The two best teams of group A and B go directly to the quarter-final. Teams placed 3rd and 4th in group A and B and the teams placed 1st and 2nd in group C and D make it to the first playoff round (played before the quarter-finals).

All four Women´s World Floorball Championships 2017 groups will be presented on the IFF website and the first up is Group D with Denmark, Japan, USA and Thailand.

 

DENMARK

Team Denmark is a organized, passing and positioning team. They relay on a strong defensive structure at all times, and adapt their offensive to the given opposition. They are a young group, with a good balance between young talented players and strong experienced players. They are going to Bratislava with a lot of confidence and believe in themselves.

Players to watch

Cecilia Di Nardo: The best Danish player. Cecilia is a key player at her team in Swedish top league SSL. Her experience, and her role as captain of the team, makes her a valuable player for Denmark.
Sara Lund: The Danish first keeper. Huge experience combined with quick reflexes, great positioning and the ability to "hit the zone" in goal.
Anne Sofie Thaarup: The defensive general at the Danish team. Tremendous duel game and organizer of the Danish defence.

JAPAN

Within this two years, some of experienced good players who had vast experience from international games, retired from the national team. Now, Japanese team have a lot of young players. They are changing the generation. But, every time, essential purpose of Japanese team is to enjoy the high level international Floorball game with their whole heart. They will concentrate their spirit upon every match and try to do their very best with great sportsmanship. Their final goal is to participate PO1 or PO3 game in WFC2017.

Players to watch

Yui Takahashi: This is a challenge go for her 7th WFC. She is very small, but her physical working capacity and fighting spirit are great.
Yui Goto: She is one of the best players in the team. Her potential for the international level Floorball and physical working capacity and skills are very attractive.
Mahiro Shimizu: With her 15 years, she is the youngest player of the team. This WFC is her first international match. Now she is included as a forward. Her potential as a Floorball player is huge.

USA

The team has a good mixture of experienced and new players. The goal is to take game by game and reach the best position possible.

Players to watch

Michelle Linhart: A very athletic and skilful player with a great shot.
Marie Häggström: A very skilful and experienced center with excellent scorer qualities.
Victoria Lindström: A very young but extremely talented Floorball player. Excellent technical and tactical skills.

THAILAND

Team Thailand is a young team, with strong passion for the Floorball. They are motivated by challenges, and strive to do their best to further improve with every opportunity on the world stage.

Players to watch

Nina Suppa: A strong and experienced player. With her good routine from playing on a high level, she leads and encourages the team.
Nelly Johansson: A young forward with speed and good potential. Her experience playing in the Swedish league allows her to adapt to the game quickly as a top scorer.
Thanaporn Tongkham: She is a player with great potential for the game. She excels with her speed and drive for improvement, proving a great strength for the team.
