The first play-off game. Poland progressed from the third place, Estonia were successful thanks to two victories. Who will play against Czech Republic?
Poland started the first period with impressive attacking style but Kadri Heinla saved all chances to score. What a disaster for Estonia. Katrin Kivirand scored an own goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately for Poland, their lead was very short. After 36 seconds, Reti Vaart was successful against the Polish goalie. It was a very balanced game full of desire to win the match. Wonderful passes, pugnacity on both sides and quick floorball. Polish players did an important step before the next period. Agata Plechan added the second goal for Poland in the last minute of the first period.
Perfect start for Poland. Elzbieta Piotrowska was a successful goal-scorer in the 23rd minute. What a goal in the 25th minute! Centre of Poland, Justyna Krzywak scored a beautiful short-handed goal when she showed an individual action with impressive finish. Poland led 4:1. The Estonian team seemed to lack some inspiration and energy. These aspects were presented mostly in their attacking game plan.
Estonia
improved their play in offensive area but a lot of their shots were
blocked by the Polish defence. Poland tried to use break aways in the last
period. However Poland dominated also in the third period, there were no clear
chances to add the next goals. More than three minutes until the end, Estonia
had an advantage of power-play but Justyna Krzywak confirmed a victory of
Poland thanks to goal into an empty net. The next goal was scored by Elzbieta
Piotrowska in the 59th minute. Poland won over Estonia 6:1.
