Monday’s final match was a clash between the USA and Denmark. The winner would take the first place in Group D so there was a lot at stake. Team USA got a better start to the match with Michelle Linhart scoring and making it 1-0 for the USA. However, from then on, Denmark started controlling the game. Cecilia Di Nardo equalized the game five minutes after USA’s goal. She added another goal and made it 1-2 for Denmark before the end of the first period.
In the second period, Denmark scored four more goals, one of them was scored by Cecilia Di Nardo again.
She completed her hattrick in this game and got even closer to becoming
the top scorer of Women’s Floorball Championships of all time. A few
minutes before the end of the second period, Marie Haggstrom scored to cut the score down to 2-6.
Unfortunately for the audience, no goals were scored during the last period. The USA tried to come back to the match with some nice chances and shots on goal. Denmark wanted to increase their lead as well, but did not manage to break through USA’s defense. So the score stayed at 2-6 for Denmark, which made them the winner of Group D.
