The Czech Republic should have been a clear favorite in this match, but it did not look like that in the first period. They played rather carefully and did not create that many chances. First one to score was Nela Kapcova with an assist from Eliska Krupnova. This was the only goal of the first period, making the Czech Republic a leader before the start of the second part of the game.
Things got better for the Czech Republic in the second period. They finally got more active in the game and started to dominate over Norway a bit more. The duo Krupnova – Kapcova scored two goals and put the Czech Republic into a safer lead, not just by one goal. They were followed by Denisa Billa, who made it 4-0. Norway got to play a powerplay when Denisa Ratajova was given a 2-minute penalty for obstruction, but they had troubles creating chances and had almost no shots on goal. The Czech Republic got ahead even more, with two goals from Martina Repkova.
The third period started very unlucky for Ratajova, as she injured her leg at the start. She remained in a medical care for quite a long time and it did not look good for her. From then on, she did not play, leaving the Czech Republic weakened. Even this unfortunate situation did not stop the Czech Republic from taking the victory. Billa scored her second goal and secured her team’s position. The last goal was added by Magdalena Plaskova, who made it 8-0 for the Czech Republic, who confirmed the role of a favorite.
