Impressive win for Denmark against Thailand – 01.12.2017


The first game of the World Championships offered a great performance between Denmark and debutant from Thailand.

Both teams started with full enthusiasm and a lot of energy into the first match of the World Championships 2017. It didn´t take too long until Denmark and Thailand tried to shoot from any positions. Despite the good opportunities for Thailand to score, Denmark scored the first goal of the World Championships. It was in the 4th minute when Cecilia Di Nardo orchestrated the first goal thanks to individual action. Denmark added the next goal in the 16th minute, Nanna Sorensen was successful against goalie Pornsawan Soramak. Afterwards both teams weren´t able to score further goals in the first period.

Thai players surprised Denmark because they started the second period with a goal. It was in the 21st minute when Tikhamporn Sakunpithak rebounded the shot. Denmark was active but Thailand presented its team as a compact national team with a good condition. There was a goal-change in the 34th minute thanks to Nanna Sorensen. Two minutes later, Denmark scored another goal. Klara Fjorder utilized the chance and her country led 4:1. After this, The Thai team seemed to lack some inspiration and energy. Denmark started to dominate and controlled the game.

Denmark confirmed the dominance in the first minute of the third period. Cecilia De Nardo scored her second goal and Denmark led with four-goal advantage. Lina Voldby added another goal and Danish players won with score 6:1. Thailand showed a pugnacity and floorball players from this country scored their second goal. Jennifer Bergase was a successful scorer. Unfortunately for Thai players, Denmark scored 7th goal in the 50th minute and thanks to Laura de Fries won 7:2. Danish players added another four goals which scored Mathilde Christensen, Anne Sofie Thaarup, Klara Fjorder and Cecilia Di Nardo, the captain of Denmark. These players secured the first win of Denmark in the World Championships 2017.
