WFC 2017 Team presentations - Group C: SVK, SGP, EST, AUS – 17.11.2017

The 11th Women´s World Floorball Championships (WFC) Final Round is played in Bratislava, Slovakia on December 1st - 9th, 2017.

A total of 30 teams played in the WFC Qualifications to decide the 16 teams to qualify to the Event. Slovakia, as the organiser, is automatically qualified. The WFC is played with 16 teams: FIN, CZE, LAT, NOR, SWE, SUI, GER, POL, SVK, AUS, SGP, EST, DEN, JPN, USA, THA.

Thailand will play in the World Floorball Championships Final Round for the first time.

The two best teams of group A and B go directly to the quarter-final. Teams placed 3rd and 4th in group A and B and the teams placed 1st and 2nd in group C and D make it to the first playoff round (played before the quarter-finals).

All four Women´s World Floorball Championships 2017 groups will be presented on the IFF website and the first up is Group C with Slovakia, Singapore, Estonia and Australia.


SLOVAKIA

This teams advantage is team work. The players enjoyed every single training camp last 2 years and they have built a team, where experienced players are mixed with the young talents. The main goal for the team is to play a modern Floorball with good ball control and fast movement. Players also work hard to improve their condition and they believe that there will be a good progress. Their aim is to fight for the A division for the next championship.

Players to watch

Lucia Kosturikova: The captain and most experienced player in the team. Fast with the ball and team top scorer. Essential part of the team.
Denisa Ferencikova: Confident and experienced player who always want to win and never gives up. She is very strong with the ball and she has high level court vision.
Michaela Sponiarova: Two-way player with a great offensive and defensive skills. Her advantages are condition and self-confidence.

SINGAPORE

This team comprising veterans and young players, is looking to improve their play with each game, gain valuable experience and achieve the best that they possibly can.

Players to watch

Yeo Xuan: An upcoming player who has the potential to excel in the game with her talent.
Amanda Yeap: Her constant drive to improve herself has enabled her to become more versatile in her game play.
Fariza Zabir: A tenacious goalkeeper who leads from the back with her commanding presence on court.

ESTONIA

Estonian team has reached the WFC final tournament after a long while. The team was working hard to qualify for Bratislava and have continued doing so. It has been an important journey for all their players, coaches and staff members. The aim is to keep up the good spirit during the WFC, play their best game and let their supporters be proud of their team.

Players to watch

Reti Väärt: An experienced and strong-minded center player. Relentlessly fighting in every situation to win the ball or keep the possession hence creating chances and building the game.
Judith Hyvärinen: A fast and determined forward player. Efficiently putting pressure to opponent´s defenders and always looking for a chance to score.
Kati Kutisaar: A forward with talented mind and hands. Enjoys controlling the ball and shooting hard and precise. Staying always positive and being a true playmaker.

AUSTRALIA

The 2017 Australian National Women´s Floorball Team consists of a good mix of veteran players and young, hopeful prospects. Their aim is to play attractive, modern Floorball and continue to grow and progress from all that they have learned and established in New Zealand at WFCQ2017.

Players to watch

Amanda Bartrim: When she swapped the sport of pole vaulting for Floorball in 2012, on one expected her to make such an impact in the National Team. But with heart, soul and dedication she has proved everyone wrong and has emerged as a role model, improving from year to year. Probably one of the fastest players on the court.
Isabelle Newland: Playing Floorball for some time now, Izzy is known for her soft hands and her game sense. She can play as a forward or as a defender and can adjust her plays accordingly.
Yasmin Skene: Although being the youngest player in the team (again), she is representing Australia in her second WFC. Yazzie is a gritty player with good stickhandling skills and has a natural drive towards the net.
