16 national teams of the world´s best female players will play in Bratislava during December. There will be two newcomers among them. Estonia and Thailand.
Estonian team qualified for the final tournament in Slovakia thanks to two victories in the Qualification in Celano. Estonia won important games against Netherlands (7:2) and Austria (13:0). Floorball players around coach Pavel Semenov finished on the third position because they lost matches with Switzerland (0:7) and Germany (1:2), another participants of the World Championships in Bratislava.
The most valuable player of team Estonia was Kati Kutisaar. Forward Edith Parnik led team in scoring with 7 points (2+5) in 4 games.
According to the International Floorball Federation, Estonian Floorball Union have only 90 licensed players in women´s category.
Estonia qualified for the World Championships for the sixth time but Estonian players weren´t in the last World Championships in 2015.
We can find Semenov´s team in group C. Estonian opponents are host-country Slovakia, Singapore and Australia. Estonia starts World Championships on the 1st December against Australia.
The second newcomer is Thailand. This country has never qualified for the World Championships before. According to the statistics of the International Floorball Federation, small Thai Floorball Association was founded in 2007 and it refers only 400 licensed players.
Thai success started thanks to several victories. Thailand lost the game for the third place against Singapore and finished the fourth.
Thanaporn Tongkham was the best scoring player, she scored 6 goals. All in all, she had 9 points after the successful qualification.
Floorball players around coach Kenneth Koh are in group D. They start the World Championships against Denmark, there are also USA and Japan.
