The second today´s game in Group C was between Poland and Australia. There was no winner in this match that finished 4-4 (1-0, 3-2, 0-2).
Before this game Australia lost both matches in group C. Poland showed their best in games against Slovakia and Denmark, unfortunately that was not enough to get any points. Beginning or the match was tough for both teams who fought for their first win. Poland scored their first goal precisely in the middle of the period. There were not many scoring chances for both team in the period, because of excellent defense.
Next on the second period Australia showed that they can do their job well in attack. At first Shaun Frazer scored match equalizer goal. One minute later Jeremy Monckton made Australian fans proud and happy. That was first time at the tournament when Australia was in front. Poles had some good attempts to score, but goalkeeper Ryan Alexandrakis made two incredible saves. Later in the second Australian players made some bad mistakes on their side, so that helped Poland to score three goals in a row.
Period number three began with 4-2 Poland being ahead. Aussie bounced back quickly with Tomas Gartner´s perfect strike. They had some good chances to equalize it again. Australian team finally made it 4-4 when there was only 3:32 left to play. Match ended with a tie. Both teams have two matches left in this tournament. On Wednesday Australia will play against Thailand, but Poland will examine Singapore in battle for 13th place.
