Second day of World Floorball Championships continued with one of the favorite duels. Team Finland started well and defeated Switzerland 6-4 (4-1, 0-2, 2-1).
Both teams started with victories against Germany and Estonia. That meant that winning today´s game will bring the winning team on top of Group A. Finland started quickly with a fast goal scored by Janne Lamminen. The spectators didn´t have to wait long for another two goals from the Finnish team. Switzerland looked frustrated in the beginning. A power play goal brought hope to the Swiss. Later in the first period, Jani Kukkola ended the Suomi attack with an excellent strike, thus making the score 4-1 for Finland.
Team Finland controlled the game and had much more chances to score than the opponents. Game changed in the second period when an aggressive playing style from the Finnish side provided a lot of penalties. Switzerland scored two excellent power play goals in the second period. Luca Graf had 1+1 and helped his team to decrease the score to 3-4. The Swiss side dominated in the second period with 11 shots on goal, whereas Finland had only one.
Battle for leadership in Group A continued with Finland´s attacking game, but still Switzerland had the best chance to tie the game. When it was 47:23 Manuel Maurer made the Swiss dream come true - 4:4! Finland can be thankful for their goalie Eero Kosonen who conceded a lot of saves in this game. Miko Kailala made the game winning goal at 50:15. Switzerland even pulled their goalkeeper out, but Finns scored an empty net goal just a few seconds before the match ended thus winning the match 6-4.
