Close game on the rink and on the scoreboard as Estonian´s made their comeback with just two minutes left on the clock.
First period of Germany - Estonia began with a ball control on visitor´s side, despite the fact that the scoring chances were mostly generated by the Germans. The Estonian offence was not efficient, they kept trying but during the first five minutes no goals were seen. Estonian goalie Oige had to stay sharp in order to stop quite a few dangerous scoring chances coming his way. 9:49 into the first period, Germans finally got one in when Julian Nihlen, with a great wrist shot, put the ball in the net. 14:48 on the clock, another counter attack by Germans, and the ball goes through the legs of the Estonian goalie and the score is 2-0. Estonia came close to getting one back late in the first period, but Germans stayed sharp to keep that one out, followed by another that went wide. 2-0 after the first period.
Estonians assured that they will try to brake the game in the second period. Early opportunity, but that was wasted once again after a shot that went wide and past an empty corner. Germany´s Matthias Seide took a stick to the face, and went down fast, but was okay to continue playing giving his team first power play of the game. Unfortunately for German side, they couldn´t connect to execute their advantage. Just seconds later German goalie Dietz came out and made an incredible save. 11:00, in the second period, Estonia finally struck back to make it 2-1 from a goal by Kareliusson. With five minutes left in the second period, Germans put themselves up by two, and then a minute later scoring their fourth goal of the game to put them up 4-1. Estonia kept defending and yet another offensive spark allowed them to score meaning that they would now be down by just two goal at the end of the second period.
Germany had all the intention to extend their league further and they did it! 59 seconds in to the third period, they got their fifth goal of the game, on a breakaway. Estonians decided that they can get an early one as well coming right back to make it 5-3. There were equal goal scoring chances during the halfway of the third period for both teams and the two-goal difference made it interesting to watch. Germans had yet another constructive offensive rush that turned into their sixth goal. 13:59, penalty shot was awarded to Estonia but German goalie stood tall and made the save, but that didn´t stop them from trying! A goal came on the powerplay, putting them back within a two-goal difference. With 2:41 left to play, Estonia made their fans cheer, a goal to make sure they can still win it, now being down by one goal, and it took them just 11 seconds to tie it up. Game ended with a tie 6-6.
