In the first "C" group game Denmark defeated Australia. Fast goals in the first period helped Denmark to make a gap and win this match 8-1 (3-0, 4-1, 1-0).
Danes started with great offensive play that provided fast goal after Jannik Wede´s shot from long distance. Scandinavians continued with another two goals and Australia made a goalkeeper substitution. Vladimir Plocek left the game with 3 saves and three conceded goals. The strong start helped the Danish team to feel more comfortable in the rest of the period.
In the beginning of the second period, Australia managed to score their first goal. The main action in this period was near Australian goalkeeper, Mitchell George. Team Denmark dominated and scored four goals in a row. Andreas Glad Pedersen made a hat-trick that helped his team to advance to a 5-1 lead. More goals were then scored by Stefan Hedorf and Lucas Eldholm.
Period three was like a formality for both teams. Denmark and Australia started their preparation to their other group matches against Slovakia and Poland. The only goal of the third period was scored at 57:17. Denmark begins the tournament with a confident 8-1 win.
