The Men’s World Floorball Championships (WFC) 2016 is getting closer and closer. All in all, 16 teams will be seen in Riga, Latvia including the first timer Thailand.
Thailand started to prepare for the upcoming WFC early on. The team even took a trip to Sweden in July. The main purpose of the journey was to build the roster for the WFC:
- We went to Sweden in order to organize try outs for some of the new Thai players with Swedish and Finnish backgrounds. And we also wanted to play friendly matches against Swedish floorball teams, says Kenneth Koh, the head coach of the team.
The trip to Sweden was organized by the team itself:
- We had both sides working so to speak. We planned the logistics and everything in Thailand and our team official Urban Rinefalk in Sweden helped us to find the arena, accommodation and so on. He also helped us to set up the friendly matches.
The team stayed and practiced in a Swedish town called Falkenberg, which is located in the southern part of Sweden:
- Our almost two-week program consisted mostly of training and so we stayed at the Falkenberg arena most of the time. We needed to assess the new players in the practices and friendly matches and after that we decided which players will play in the WFC in December. The team did have one day off and we visited the amusement park in Liseberg. It was very fun and good for the team. All in all, the trip to Sweden was a success and we are now ready for the WFC.
