Qualification to WFC 2012

Five teams qualified directly to the final round of the Men´s WFC 2012 according to their placings at the 2010 WFC. These teams were: Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Switzerland & Latvia.

Qualifications for the remaining places at the Men´s WFC 2012 were played in February 2012 in three geographical regions with total of 24 teams from five different continents (Asia, Europe, Oceania, North-America and South-America). In total, 11 teams advanced to the WFC 2012 Final round from the qualifications.

The European qualification was played in three groups (EUR 1, EUR 2 & EUR 3) and the two best teams from each group and the best 3rd team qualified to the WFC 2012 Final round. These teams were: Norway, Estonia, Russia, Poland, Germany, Hungary & Slovakia.

The qualifications in Asia & Oceania and Americas were played in one group each and the two best teams from both tournaments qualified to the WFC 2012 Final round. These teams were: Singapore & Japan, and USA & Canada.

Tournament Mode:

The Men‘s WFC 2012 is played with a system where a total of 16 teams play in four groups. Every team will play 5 to 6 games.

Quarter-finals
The group´s two best-placed teams will move on to Quarter-finals. The winners of the Quarter-finals continue to the Semi-finals. The losers of the Semi-finals will play two games and the winners of these games will play for 5th and 6th place and for the losers of these two matches the tournament is over. The 7th team will be the team losing to the team which achieves the 5th place on the tournament.

Places from 9th to 12th
Teams placed 3rd in the group will play two games to decide places from 9th to 12th.

Places from 13th to 16th
Teams placed 4th in the group will play two games to decide places from 13th to 16th.

Semi-finals and Medal matches
The winners of Semi-finals will play in the Final and the losers of Semi-finals will play in Bronze match.
