Malaysia took the Men´s Bronze medal – 14.06.2015

In the last day of the SEA Games 2015 there were five medals at stake.

First out, to play for the Men´s bronze, were Malaysia and the Philippines where Malaysia were favourites considering their clear win in the preliminary round.
Team Malaysia also took an immediate control of the ball and put up a constant pressure but the Philippines kept the defence tight and the few shots passing through was picked up by Jeremiah Beltran.
At 11:37 Sjaiful Anuar Adzahar finally could give Malaysia the lead and one could think that this would have losen up the Malaysian nerves. But as it sometimes happens in sport instead the Philippines equalized when Mark Polo equalized with 5 minutes to go of the period.
Team Malaysia however regained the lead before the end of the 1st period.

In the second period Malaysia geared up and produced both more chances and showed a better efficiency and scored five goals Before the Philippines scored their second.

The last period was just a formality and team Malaysia won the bronze medal after the final result 11-3.

The next edition of the SEA Games, the 29th SEA Games, will be played in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia most likely in September 2017. The process for inclusion of sports to the program will be closed one year advanced of the games. At the moment Floorball is not on the program, but discussions with the organizer, the Malaysian Olympic Council has started and actions are to be taken, especially from the Malaysian Floorball Federation, who needs to finalize the registration process to the Malaysian Olympic Council.

"We all hope that the bronze medal for the Malaysian Men’s team will help the process and that the other SEA Countries NOC’s will support the endeavor to secure Floorball on the program" says, IFF President Mr. Tomas Eriksson.
