Djurgårdens IF wins against Zug United — 02.10.2014Zug United lost its second game of the Champions Cup 2014 against Djurgårdens IF. The Swedish team winning a one-sided game 12-2.
Even though Zug was playing at full strength at the beginning of the second period, the game still looked like a powerplay of the Swedish team. Zug was pressured by the powerful and aggressive Swedish champions. As a result, Djurgårdens IF scored a double strike in the 27th and 28th minute. It took Zug more than half an hour to open their score with a goal of Gisela Schibli, assisted by Natascia Hagg. Four more goals before the second break The answer of Djurgårdens IF was not long in coming and it was impressive. They scored two more goals within seven seconds, which brought the score to 7:1 at half-time of the game. With two more goals from Djurgårdens IF’s Ranja Varli, who was elected for the best player after the game, the scoreboard showed a 9:1 lead during the second break. Once again,the third and last period started with a goal of the Swedish team. Djurgårdens IF scored their tenth goal through Sandra Mattsson´s precise finish after she had played a clever one-two with Emelie Lindström, and although the Swiss were trying hard to find their way back into the game until the very last second, Djurgården taught Zug a lesson in the art of fast and powerful floorball.
