Piranha Chur wins against SB-Pro — 02.10.2014Piranha Chur wins its first game of the Champions Cup, showing an impressive performance. The Swiss team beat Finnish champions, SB-Pro Nurmijärvi 9-5.
At this point, Chur woke up and found its way back into the game. Thanks to a doublestrike of Seraina Ulber and Ramona Ludwig the Swiss tied the game after quarter of an hour. Thus,the first period ended in a draw (2:2). Spectacular start of the second period The second period began with a big bang; three goals in three minutes. It was SB-Pro’s Laura Hietamäki who scored the last of them to a 4:3 lead of the Finnish team. But once again, the Piranhas were able to tie the game with a tremendous wristshot of Ludwig. Piranha Chur completely dominated the rest of the second period but was not able to take the lead due to an inefficient offence. After 31 seconds in the last period, the Swiss champions took the lead they had been searching for in the second period. Only two minutes later, Katrin Zwinggi shot, scored and increased the lead for the Swiss to 6:4. In the 50th minute Eija Helenius, (formerly Eija Pasanen and once a Piranha player), scored again for SB-Pro and returned the hope to the Finnish team. Subsequently, the Swiss tried to defend their lead with all their means. With two more goals, scored by Hanka Lackova and Flurina Marti, Chur extented its lead to 8:5.
